Leadership

Austin was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He grew up there along with his five sisters before moving to Dallas to attend school at Southern Methodist University. There (or rather at the nearby dive bar, Milo's) he met his wife, Taryn. They are blessed with three children, Cora, Jude, and Joel - as well as their mini goldendoodle, Hudson.

Austin comes from a long line of real estate entrepreneurs, beginning with his great grandfather William, who started Federer Realty Company in 1913 which was responsible for building over 40 residential subdivisions in St. Louis. Austin's grandfather, Richard, took over the business in 1967 and began to shift the company's focus to real estate investment. Richard had 11 children, many of which entered real estate themselves. This included Austin's father, Tom, who owns a real estate law practice, as well as several of his uncles who focus on self-managed real estate investments. Austin spent his summers both in the law office and on-site at his uncles' properties, which helped prepare him for a career as property tax consultant.

Outside of spending time with his family, Austin enjoys traveling, reading, exercise, and surfing Zillow. He's also actively working on lowering his golf handicap, and welcomes any opportunity to get some practice in.
